Join one of Australia’s most celebrated writers Anna Krien at Rabbit+Cocoon on Friday 6 September as she talks to Stilts co-founder Bronte Coates about her fascinating career as a writer of journalism, essays, fiction and poetry.
Anna Krien is the author of Night Games (out now) as well as Into the Woods: The Battle for Tasmania’s Forests and Quarterly Essay 45 Us and Them: On the Importance of Animals. She has also been published in the Big Issue, The Monthly, The Age, Best Australian Essays (2005/2006), Griffith REVIEW, Voiceworks, Going Down Swinging, COLORS, the program, Frankie and Dazed & Confused.
Anna Krien: Uncovering Australia’s Secret Stories is a must for writers, editors, researchers and university and high school writing students, as well as people who are interested in storytelling, current affairs and investigative journalism. This event marks the first time Rabbit+Cocoon is hosting a literature talk, with our precinct having previously hosted talks on visual arts, architecture, performance, design, creative mentorships and cultural policy.
Anna Krien’s Gold Coast talk is presented by Rabbit+Cocoon in partnership with the Brisbane Writers Festival 2013.

Anna Krien won the Australian Press Council Award when she was eighteen. Since then Into the Woods has won the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction and the Victorian Premier’s People’s Choice Award, and was also shortlisted for the NSW and WA Premiers’ Literary Awards, the ABIA Newcomer of the Year Award and the Blake Dawson Business Literature Prize. The Quarterly Essay Us and Them: On the Importance of Animals won the 2012 Voiceless Writing Prize, and was shortlisted for the John Button Prize and a Walkley Award.
